Southwestern College Student Union
Project Description

The new 85,000-square-foot, two-story Student Union at Southwestern College is a transformative project designed to become the vibrant heart of campus life. Replacing the existing Student Union and Cafeteria buildings (66A, 67A), the facility will consolidate student-centered services and spaces into a dynamic, centralized location.

Guided by the SWC Facilities Master Plan, the Student Union will feature a food hall, multipurpose rooms, a ballroom, and outdoor terraces that take advantage of Chula Vista’s mild climate. The building will support a diverse range of activities—from quiet study and social gatherings to student government and formal events—and will house the Associated Student Organization (ASO), Bookstore, Cares Hub, Culinary Arts, Learning Communities, Health and Personal Wellness services, and the Veterans Resource Center.

By balancing flexible and intimate spaces, the new Student Union enhances connectivity, engagement, and student well-being, reinforcing Southwestern College’s commitment to a holistic campus experience.
