Project Description

The Grossmont College Performing and Visual Arts Center (PAC) is a 38,680-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility designed to elevate both instructional and community engagement in the performing and visual arts. As the first phase of a broader campus renovation, the PAC features a 390-seat concert hall, one of the largest stages in the county, an orchestra pit, and a balcony, supporting the college’s thriving theater, dance, and music programs.

Specialized spaces include choral and instrumental rehearsal rooms, piano practice rooms, classrooms, faculty offices, and production-focused areas such as a green room, scene shop, costume area, makeup classroom, and new dressing rooms. The building is also home to the Hyde Art Gallery, providing a permanent space for visual arts exhibitions and community engagement.

Designed as a cultural anchor for the campus, the PAC creates a welcoming gateway to Grossmont College’s arts and communication complex. It serves a dual purpose—providing modern, functional instructional space while inviting the broader community to engage with the arts. The project successfully integrates with adjacent historic and contemporary buildings, establishing a cohesive and inspiring arts environment.
