Project Description

BEQ Package 9 at the United States Marine Corps base is a large-scale, high-performance military housing project that encompasses the design/build of three 4-story Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQs) totaling 576 two-person units—equivalent to 1,152 beds—along with supporting facilities that enhance both functionality and quality of life for service members.

Spanning a complex site with adjacent occupied buildings, this multi-phased project also includes the construction of a 1.5 megawatt solar energy system, a 500-seat outdoor amphitheater, a landmark projection tower, and a 706-space, 4-story parking garage. Designed and executed to meet the highest standards of sustainability, the project achieved LEED Platinum certification, the highest level recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Baker Electric played a critical role in delivering the electrical infrastructure, leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) and extensive prefabrication to efficiently manage the high degree of technical and logistical complexity. The project involved the demolition of existing structures and required precise coordination with the joint venture general contractors Straub Construction, Inc. and Martin Harris Construction to minimize disruption while maintaining construction momentum.

BEQ Package 9 stands as a model of modern, energy-efficient military housing, combining resilient infrastructure, sustainable design, and thoughtful amenities to support the Marine Corps' mission and the well-being of its personnel.
