PLANNING, BIM, PREFABRICATION, TRIMBLE AND MOBILE DEVICES

Baker Electric maintains a large, sophisticated, and well trained Planning Department.  Our planners are electrical experts, who utilize cutting edge virtual design and Building Information Modeling or BIM for our larger projects.
BIM
Our models are a data-rich digital representation of the work we install in the field.  We use BIM to visualize the work, quantify the scope, generate shop drawings, and prefabrication drawings.

By leveraging BIM technology, Baker is assisting our clients achieve their project goals in a more cost- effective and efficient manner.

Numerous benefits can be realized with this tool:

  • Visualization
  • Collaboration
  • Collision Detection
  • Prefabrication and shop drawings
  • Data rich As-Builts
  • Field Productivity

PrefabOur innovative use of BIM in association with prefabrication allows us to fabricate and “kit” by project stage and area.

Kits are packaged with refined installation drawings and clearly labeled by area maximizing efficiencies and production while maintaining and/or beating scheduled installation dates benefitting the project.

With our assemblies built in a controlled environment we ensure a high quality product, all material and assemblies are delivered on rolling carts minimizing our material and debris that actually hit the ground, our goal is to leave zero trace.

Man w screenOur field crew relies on our GPS integrated, Trimble Rapid Positioning System during layout to pinpoint locations for stub-ups, hangers, equipment pads and cable trays.  This technology eliminates rework from inaccurate installed work. Using Trimble enables Baker to be more productive through greater accuracy.

Baker employs the latest mobile project management devices, including tablets, which are quickly becoming the must have tool for our worksite. Paperless technology and mobile devices allow us to instantly access the model in the field, enhancing quality, cost management and expediency.

Our tablets are coupled with a rich ecosystem of apps and remote data storage, “cloud” services.  This allows our field staff to create and share blueprints, contracts, RFI’s, close-out documents and other vital documents in the BIM process in real-time.
