Baker Electric is seeking a strong “Hands-on” Contracts / Administration Manager for our Technology Services Group, an established, growing division of the company.

We are looking for a Manager with a proven ability to develop, coordinate and manage the contract, administration, and business operational processes for a construction group.

This position works closely with Project Management, Estimating, Field Supervision, and Accounting.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Provide direction and control to the operating policies, processes and procedures of the division.
  2. Develop and implement sound policies concerning the operations of the division.
  3. Review all contracts and sub-contracts of the division for reasonable terms and risk exposure.
  4. Ensure that all customer, sub-contractor and vendor relationships are properly managed to protect and manage the financial risk to the company.
  5. Support the executive staff of the company with the standardization of all relevant operating practices of the company / division in a manner consistent with the overall policies of the company / division.
  6. Develop project management and tracking systems, procedures, and practices that support the goals and objectives of the company /division.
  7. Develop estimation systems, procedures, and practices that support the goals and objectives of the company /division.
  8. Participate in the maintenance of appropriate business relationships with the existing and potential customer base.
  9. Ensure that all managers and supervisors of the division comply with the financial and accounting controls and reports in place .
  10. Supervise division office staff, and support estimation and project management staff as assigned; ensure effective project support to the field operations and timely and relevant communications with the accounting and executive operations of the company.
  11. Support the data requirements and information needs of the VP with regard to the division’s operations.
  12. Participate in, and lead when directed, any cross division coordination of operating processes and procedures.
  13. Coordination of purchasing activities to meet the needs of the Project Managers and field staff.
  14. Perform special requests for senior management as requested.

Position requirements: Strong management skills, hands-on operational experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strength in customer relationship management, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • BA or BS degree in a related field preferred or 5+ years of experience in the construction industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Experience in contract review/management preferred
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Computer experience/skills: Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel , Word, and Outlook
  • Construction accounting experience preferred: billing, job cost, change orders
  • Strong analytical and written and oral communication skills
